Yes, there is free parking in the gravel parking lot
This area does not get much traffic at night, so it’s a perfect area to meet up to get a great stargazing experience (weather permitting) before the drive to our stargazing location even begins.
It’s recommend to back into the spot and make room for other potential vehicles. ?

James, your guide will typically be there 10 minutes prior to the tour start time. He will be driving a Nissan van, license plate EB362. When you arrive, he will walk over to your vehicle to check you in.

At the Gilbert Kahele Recreation Area, 7 minutes west of the meeting spot. No restroom stops on the tour.

Nice, smooth roads with reflectors on them to see better at night. Potential patches of thick clouds on the way to the meeting spot.

Depending on the clouds, we will stargaze anywhere from 7000-9500 feet elevation.

Temperatures can be around 40°F. Dress accordingly.

We will bring parka jackets for you to use. They have pockets and a hood.

No gas stations nearby. Make sure you have 1/2 tank of gas, just to be extra safe.

It is not recommended to wear black or white pants, blue jeans look pretty good in photos.Some guests even change into a red dress or any color that they have for an epic solo photo.
